Geo-Mapping Urban Realities: A Comprehensive Survey of Slum Areas in Bangalore City, Sightsavers India, 2024
The "Geo-Mapping Urban Realities: A Comprehensive Survey of Slum Areas in Bangalore City," conducted by Sightsavers India in 2024, aimed to map the geographical boundaries of 218 slum areas and assess the living conditions and vulnerabilities of their residents. The study used a mixed-method approach, including desk reviews, key informant interviews, and quantitative surveys, to create a vulnerability index identifying the most at-risk areas. The survey covered environmental conditions, socioeconomic status, housing, infrastructure, healthcare, and accessibility. The findings are intended to support Sightsavers India in planning targeted interventions, particularly addressing the eye healthcare needs of slum residents.
