PROJECT OVERVIEW

Acceptability and effects of reusable sanitary napkins on menstruation management among adolescent school girls in Rajasthan  - Project BAALA, 2019

The baseline study for Project BAALA, conducted by the Ecdessha Foundation in 2019, focused on evaluating the acceptability and effectiveness of reusable sanitary napkins among adolescent school girls in Rajasthan's Alwar district. The research aimed to understand how promoting reusable sanitary napkins, along with menstrual hygiene workshops, affected the menstruation management practices of 600 adolescent girls. A mixed-methods approach was used to gather data on the girls' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding sustainable and hygienic menstruation management. The study explored the economic and environmental benefits of reusable sanitary products, as well as the challenges faced by the girls in adopting them. Iotalytics provided technical support and expertise in data management throughout the project.
